Our name
Why Ivarī
Say it ee-VAA-ree. The line over the last letter is how Sanskrit marks a long vowel.
Ivari is our own word, inspired by three Sanskrit roots. It isn't a word you'll find in an old dictionary, and we'd rather tell you that than pretend.
iva
like, as
The gentle word Sanskrit poets use to compare one lovely thing to another.
vara
chosen, the best
What is picked with care, and kept.
rī
to flow
Movement, continuity: what goes on from one hand to the next.
Together, Ivari means like a chosen flow: pieces chosen to continue.
- A chosen lineageA collection a husband and wife made together, chosen to continue.
- A chosen giftA one-of-a-kind piece, chosen for someone.
- A chosen flow of silverHandcrafted, fluid, full of colour.
